(A) Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs)
NOTAM stands for Notice to airmen and refers to information for airmen. The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has changed the meaning of the abbreviation with effect from 2 December 2021 to Notice to Air Missions in order to make it gender-neutral. Notice to Air Missions means messages for flight plans. However, the USA is currently the only country to use this term.

If you click on a field with a ‘?’ sign, a help window will open.
- Templates: If you have created templates, you can select them here first. It is a good idea to create templates for frequent trips, and it can also be helpful to create a template for the area of the test flight.
- Aircraft identification: Enter the balloon's identification here, as a sequence of capital letters, for example DOXXX. If you have already created aircraft, a selection menu will appear here when you enter the information.
- Departure aerodrome / Destination aerodrome: Enter the aerodromes that mark the approximate start and end of the planned flight. Balloon launch sites are listed if they are approved as airfields. For example, if you enter Bitterfeld, you will be given the option ZZZZ BITTERFELD 5137N01219E.
- DOF: Date of the planned flight.
- Route: A route can be entered here, but this makes little sense for short balloon flights.
- Width of the tunnel: It is advisable to select 50NM here. This will cover the areas where the flight may take place.
- Alternate aerodrome: Leave blank.
- Briefing contains: Here you can filter the information. Use Help (?) if you need assistance.
- Name of template: If you want to save the information for future use, enter a name here and click on the Save button.
- Click the continue button to display the information on the map. OSM, ICAO, VFR and LOWER maps are available.
- Valid proof of flight preparation in accordance with SERA2) is only provided when the print version is generated. To do this, press the Print briefing button. A print version will then appear in the browser window. This can be printed out. Alternatively, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Create PDF button to generate a PDF file, which you can then save.
